Last week, Acting Director Shriver provided opening remarks for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the installation of energy saving solar panels on the roof of the Theodore Roosevelt Building (TRB), marking the completion of OPM’s Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) project.

OPM has worked with ESPC for over the last 10 years to implement energy conservation measures at both the TRB and the Federal Executive Institute. Thanks to collaboration with the Energy Savings Performance Contract, OPM has been able to meet The White House Federal Sustainability Plan goals and significantly decrease its environmental impact.

Maryland Fleet Week and Flyover Baltimore is the city’s celebration of the sea services. This year marks the City of Baltimore’s fourth time hosting Navy Fleet Week. Maryland Fleet Week and Flyover Baltimore provides an opportunity for the citizens of Maryland and the City of Baltimore to meet Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services. Every year, hundreds of names of officers killed in the line of duty are engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These names are then read aloud during the annual Candlelight Vigil to memorialize those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This year marks the 36th Annual Candlelight Vigil. Historic entries for the U.S. Marshals were read by Acting Deputy Director Mark Pittella.

Deputy Secretary Graves recently traveled to Arizona, visiting Phoenix College to tour their 3D print lab. During his visit, he met with students, faculty, and community leaders to discuss the importance of STEM careers and education.

In addition, he participated in a roundtable discussion at GateWay Community College hosted by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and UnidosUS (WeAreUnidosUS). This discussion highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to a 21st-century workforce that places equity at the center.
